C A L I F O R N I A : Part II

During our recent trip to San Diego we decided to check out the farmers market in Little Italy.  This was probably one of my favorite moments on our vacation; I just love this area of downtown with all the little art galleries and Italian eateries…it's a place I could easily call home.

^^Loving all the fresh veggies and their pretty colors.

^^So there's this amazing thing called "BItchin' Sauce".  It's incredibly good.  If you're here you most definitely have to try it.

^^The sweetest little car parked on the side of the street.  I kind of want to go road tripping in it.

^^We walked further downtown to check out the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.  I really really liked this place.  There's some seriously wonderful works here.

^^I finally got to see Blick Arts in person.  I get most of my art supplies from them online and have been doing so for years, so to go inside their store had me geeking just a little.

^^Being in Little Italy meant I had to have pizza.  Had to.  Isola Pizza was pretty perfect... vine covered exterior, gorgeous modern interior, and amazing pizza.  That crust.  So good.  We also went to Pappalecco afterwards for some yummy gelato.  Little Italy now has a special place in my heart; I would love to live in a neighborhood like this someday.

C A L I F O R N I A : Part 1

We spent about 2 weeks in San Diego in August and it was BEAUTIFUL.  Growing up, my family would always road trip to SD in the summers so this city has a special place in my heart.   This time around it was just me and the hubs, and it was also his first trip to the west coast.

^^ I love Balboa Park.  Walking around El Prado reminded me so much of Barcelona…the architecture, fountains, plants, gardens tucked away…just beautiful.

^^ I can't go to San Diego and not go to the San Diego Zoo…it's impossible.  And how cute is that sleeping koala?!  We also rode the sky tram which is a little freaky on a windy day.

^^ After the zoo we headed down to the Gaslamp District for shopping and eating.  The gelato at the Chocolat Cremerie…so good!  And the architecture around this downtown area is gorgeous.

California Part 2 coming soon!

Weekend +

I love biking on overcast mornings in Galveston. The island is pretty quiet during this time of day, and Seawall is calm and not so crowded.

I love the vibrant colors of Pleasure Pier against a white overcast sky.

We've only lived in Galveston for year, but there's something so comforting and familiar about the scent of saltwater. Not sure why that is, but I love it.

Biking by the ever lovely Hotel Galvez. It's such a gorgeous hotel and it's supposedly haunted!

Passed by a beautiful historic church in the downtown area. Galveston has amazing architecture, I'm always amazed at the detail that goes into these things.

We also had ArtWalk which is always fun (and super hot). It was a good weekend. I have lots and lots of work in progress paintings piling up, so stayed tuned!
