Posts in in my studio
Galaxy Girls + Other Things

So I finally got around to taking pictures of Luna. I decided to give her a night sky, which most my girls will have since they are badass galaxy gals. Anyway, I kind of love her.

^^ Some recent "Rinagrams". Haha, not sure if that's a thing now but I kind of like it. If you haven't noticed, she really really likes my desk. Lucky for me she doesn't step in any of my paintings. She's a good kitty :)

I'll be in the studio hardcore for the next couple weeks since I have some fun things that need finishing. ;) Have a lovely weekend!

Lately +

Last weekend we went to watch 4th of July fireworks on the beach. It's been a tradition for the past few years since we've been in Galveston. Sadly, this was our last year and I have no clue where we are even going to be living a year from now. Right now I kind of like that.

I've been working on new paintings and brass jewelry this week (my fingers are sooo callused) and listening to old school No Doubt in the studio. I've been letting Luna dry for a bit and now she's ready for a few twinkling background stars and she's finished!

^^ Carina checking out the new necklace. hehe.

^^ I've added some limited edition etchings to my shop! These little guys are from a few years ago. Find them here

^^ New prints of Celestial Mermaid and Texas Palmistry will be in the shop next week! I'm so happy with how they turned out.

I also finished watching Six Feet Under this week. Literally bawled so hard at the finale I couldn't even talk normal. It was completely ridiculous. But if you've seen it you probably know what I mean. Anyway, happy weekend! Hope it is lovely. <3

Stormy Studio Day

I'm pretty high on life right now…or maybe it's from the smell of pot coming through the vents of my next door neighbor. Either way, today feels good. It's been drizzling & down pouring all day and I've been sitting on the floor in my studio with the lights turned off and the windows open. I've been cutting matte boards and packing prints all day which is pretty soothing really. It's one of those things where doing something so repetitive can cause you to drift into this tranquil trance and everything just feels calm and good. Plus I've put Pandora on 90s all day and it's putting me in a happy place. Anyhoo, here's what I've been doing all day...

^^ Sorting through my desk mess. I'm trimming etchings and packing prints for some shops. I also have some marked down prints + originals in my shop for my summer sale (plus free shipping with code SOLSTICESALE ).

^^ It has literally been raining all day and I love it.

^^ Rina is "helping" me cut matte board. Actually she didn't stay here long…as soon as it started thundering she hid under the coffee table. This girl is afraid of so little, but thunder…that's another story.

Anyway, hope you all are having a good week! Hoping to go to Houston this weekend and also looking forward to the 4th of July on this island (and hoping the seaweed clears out because the beaches are such a mess right now).

Lately +

I've officially been living in Texas for 2 years now! Well, 2 years and 2 days if I'm being exact. It's weird being an outsider and moving to a new place and talking with the "natives", hearing about all the cool places in Texas that I never knew about. And here I grew up the next state over and had never heard of "hill country", Buc-ee's, or realized that Big Bend was near the border, or that west Texas is all desert. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that. But yeah, I underestimated the vastness of this state and hope to do some exploring of those said embarrassing things I didn't realize. ALSO! Fun story…the first day I moved here I went grocery shopping at Kroger (also a Texas thing), and if you're familiar with Kroger, you get savings with a Kroger card. Most of the items here are discounted with a Kroger card, and while I was picking out strawberries, a woman around my age came up to me and said "I just moved here from Oklahoma this week and have no idea what this Kroger Plus card is, is that something I need to look into?" and I just smiled and laughed because she was in the exact same position as me, and just moved from the same state…her Tulsa, me OKC. Is this a lame story? I don't know, I kind of like it. It stuck for some reason.

Anyway, I'm writing this post while I'm on hold with the Texas Comptroller (super fun I'm telling you). But moving on, this week has been mostly prep work for future paintings: one large painting of a galaxy girl and several small paintings of just little things I fancy (black butterflies, victorian homes, crystals, etc). I'm also thinking about buying this because it looks super interesting and I'd love to know more about that entire mystical area.

^^ Even when I clean things up my desk is and will always be messy. But that's fine because I kind of like it this way. I'm one of those people who finds things easier in messes, oddly enough. Hey, it works.

^^ A commission from a few weeks ago.

^^ Some recent Instagram pics: packing prints to ship off to retailers, drawing a little piece in honor of my 2 year anniversary of being a Texan, finishing touch ups on Luna, and finding the prettiest pink houses in Galveston.

You can follow me on Instagram here

^^ I mentioned here that I sent off a few pieces to be in a show in Seattle. The theme is Summer Moon, and all pieces are small. Totally up my alley. The show is at Twilight Gallery and goes till the 28th. If you're in the area, take a look!

^^ For my doughnut lovers, I have "Happiness is a Sprinkle Doughnut" prints (5x5 and 8x8) in the shop. :)

Now I'm off to order more business cards and hopefully get some more painting in. Have a lovely weekend!

Studio Summers

It gets really hot in Galveston. Hot, like your own sweat is cooking you, hot. But one thing I love about summers here is the evening light I get in the studio. My windows face northwest, and summers are the only time I can see the sunset as well as get direct light.

^^ Pretty views from my window.

Have a good week!
