Insta-Love: Life lately, according to Instagram

Some snapshots from my iPhone from the past few weeks.  Lately I've been obsessed with painting constellations and sleeping animals, although this is an ongoing obsession.

The sun has also been out and it feels lovely, especially through my studio windows.  I could do without the insane Galveston humidity… you walk outside and it's like being in a sauna. Ugh.

My plants have been blooming (and dying).  I'll need to make another trip to Tom's Thumb. I'm in the mood for succulents this time around.

If you haven't been watching the news, there was a tornado that hit my hometown, Oklahoma City on May 20.  It was really hard to watch the news without getting emotional.  Luckily all my friends and family were safe, but others were not so lucky.  Donate to redcross.org if you can!  Wishing everyone there a speedy recovery.

Here's a peek inside my studio as of late.  This past week or so I've been starting my Ritual series.  I'm really excited about this series and all the pieces I have planned out for the next few months.  Each piece will be reminiscent of a culture/religion and their practices with spiritual matter.

These white foxes are based on Inari's guardians who, according to some, are celestial beings with infinite wisdom and can see + hear anywhere in the world.  I'm so fascinated by foxes…they are such beautiful/interesting creatures.  And it's interesting how we associate clever and sly behavior to foxes.

I love the windows by my workspace.  The light is so lovely, and my peony is beginning to bloom.  I think my rosemary died, however.   Oh well, I plan of going succulent hunting soon.

And here's some recent work from the past few months.  I've been really into anatomy lately…and doing ink studies.
