Cycles

I've been gradually working on larger paintings and offering larger sized prints lately. Tinyartshop started in 2012 as miniatures were a huge interest of mine, and while I still love tiny paintings and will continue to make them, painting larger pieces has been stirring in my heart lately and I've been following the desire to work on a bigger scale. Life is so cyclic and I often go where it wants to take me. In college I worked on a large scale (there were a few pieces that were hard to get in and out of doorways) and I explored going larger and larger. After awhile I reversed and went small, exploring how small I could go (I have a 1x1 inch etching of a tooth). Right now I'm kind of in-between and whatever it is I want to paint (a galaxy, a portrait, anatomy) I let the image decide for me. Usually I can feel if something needs to be smaller or larger, but it's still a process figuring it all out. I'm having fun with it.

Speaking of going larger, I now have larger prints available in the shop. Floral Anatomy Heart (along with Skeleton and Ribcage) come in 5x7, 8x10 and now 11x14 inches. Eventually I think it'd been fun to get into poster sized prints. There's so many things stirring in me that I'm itching to do, but there's never enough time. Regardless, I'm excited with the new things I've been working on, including this celestial siren I'm painting. She'll eventually have galaxies in her hair. I love her already.

Afternoon light selfies. I don't know what I'd do without the afternoon light in my studio. It warms my soul and revitalizes me. I feel the same with moonlight, though I don't get to see the moon as easily from my apartment at the moment. My first dorm in college had a large window next to my bed and I always fell asleep by the moonlight and it was one of the most comforting things. I'm starting to go off on a tangent, so I'll end this post with this: I'm thankful for sunlight, for Austin, for feeling the motivation to paint, and for Mondays. Hopefully that will last all week. ;)

Dreams & Things

I've had some pretty vivid dreams lately. Two of these include my cat running away, and another where I found a secret cave inside my tooth. Weird. I think my dreams get weirder and more vivid when I'm cold and/or stressed. In college I based my senior project on weird dreams I was having at the time. Perhaps I need to brush up on symbols and meanings within dreams; I'm pretty fascinated with this stuff.

In other news, the holidays are coming up and I'll be visiting my sweet city of OKC soon. I'll keep most items available in the shop during my vacay, including these little original watercolors from my 366 Sketchbook project. Most of the pieces from this series is sold out, but I have a handful left!

And of course, you can find prints and other things in my shop. Hope you all have a lovely holiday! I've been enjoying them so far in Austin, and I'm excited to continue celebrating in my hometown (OKC) soon.

Insects, Galaxies, and Prints!

Hello! These past few weeks have kind of been a blur. I've been sick lately and it doesn't seem to be passing which is quite frustrating. Ugh. But anyway, I have so many tiny pieces I've been working on lately and I love them dearly.

^^ A little galaxy scarab! I've been obsessed with scarabs, beetles, moths, and butterflies lately.

^^ Speaking of moths I have this lady in the works with a lunar moth on her eye. More celestial musings to come!

^^ Some spring cleaning. I'm a terrible person and leave my brushes sitting in solvent forever so I finally got around to giving them a good clean. That and wiping cat hair off all my paint tubes.

^^ Milky Way prints are now in the shop! I really love the colors. Eeee. You can get them here

^^ Omen is also in the shop. Love this little guy. Comes in 5x5 or 8x8 inches.

^^ She's my little print inspector! Ha. Well back to the studio, hope you all have a lovely week. <3

Secret's Out

So some of you know I've been working on a little secret project for the past few months, and I'm happy to say the secret is finally out… (drumroll)... my shop will now carry prints + originals + now, JEWELRY! I loved working with metal jewelry several years ago in college and it has been a goal of mine to get back into it. I literally had pages upon pages of necklace ideas in my sketchbook (and still do) so it was time to get my jewelry saw out and start up again (FYI my hands were incredibly sore the first few days).

My first collection, Zodiac, represents a sleek geometric design of the zodiac constellations. I think we all know how much I love constellations at this point ;). Each necklace is made of raw brass and hung on a delicate antique brass chain. Every piece is uniquely handcut and one of a kind. <3

The Zodiac collection is now available in my shop. I'm doing a few moon jewelry pieces next as well as working on some Victorian house paintings. Back to the studio! <3
