Posts in in my studio
Lately +

As some of you know, I'm originally from Oklahoma and currently living in Texas. I really really like Texas. I also really love Oklahoma (specifically OKC). I'm constantly torn on the issue of where I want to live, but right now Texas feels good. I'll be living in Austin for a bit in the Fall, which I'm very much looking forward to. Maybe OKC in the future, but I honestly can't decide, so I'm deciding to not think about it. Sometimes I drift more towards the idea of owning very few items and just moving from city to city every few months. Essentially, this is what I'll be doing next Fall for about 9 months, 3 cities. I guess I'll find out then whether I like moving around or not ;)

^^ Onto studio things, I have new prints in the shop this week! New prints of Ghost Cat and White Moth come in 5x5 or 8x8 inches. They're cute little creatures.

^^ My studio lately. Every spring my palette gets a little bit more colorful. It's kind of nice.

^^ These little guys just got shipped off to Seattle for a show at Twilight Gallery. I don't think I've mentioned here my obsession with the PNW. Or maybe I have? Either way, it's on the top of my list of places to visit (along with Marfa & NOLA…so random I know). A little road trip along the Washington and Oregon coast would be a dream. I also wouldn't mind crossing the border to visit Vancouver and Victoria.

Speaking of Victoria I picked up this pretty white Victoria(n) frame in Houston (remember the black version here). This one is also in the shop

I'm still working on Luna and she's almost done! I've been fussing with her hair and driving myself crazy for a day or two (all good now). After that I'll have more large pieces of celestial ladies in the works as well as some smaller black butterflies and moths. And I need to make more necklaces too.

Have a great weekend! <3

Mermaids, Ghost Cats, and Prints!

Ok, so I've been painting a lot of portraits lately, and I'm not used to painting portraits. As far as portrait paintings go I've painted maybe 3 faces in my life (with oils). Painting faces freaks me out a bit because it's so…I dunno…specific. But whatever, I'm just going with it. I had this idea to paint celestial mermaids…these goddess creatures who are gorgeous but could also fuck you up. Luna (girl with the blue hair) is a night goddess. I kind of love her. More ladies to come! Think dark hair, dark flowers, ravens, galaxies, etc. Who knows, I might throw in something completely random. And maybe they're not even mermaids, maybe they're sirens. I can't decide. Or both? I'm just going with it.

^^ Kitty bath.

^^ From my sketchbook… I'm sketching more! (yay). This is Ghost Cat Explores a Crystal Cave. Maybe he'll go on other adventures too.

^^ New little guy, Wolf Mountain.

^^ I've got Scarab and Wolf Mountain prints up in the shoppity shop. These fellas come in 5x5 or 8x8 inches. <3

Off to go do more painting!

Insects, Galaxies, and Prints!

Hello! These past few weeks have kind of been a blur. I've been sick lately and it doesn't seem to be passing which is quite frustrating. Ugh. But anyway, I have so many tiny pieces I've been working on lately and I love them dearly.

^^ A little galaxy scarab! I've been obsessed with scarabs, beetles, moths, and butterflies lately.

^^ Speaking of moths I have this lady in the works with a lunar moth on her eye. More celestial musings to come!

^^ Some spring cleaning. I'm a terrible person and leave my brushes sitting in solvent forever so I finally got around to giving them a good clean. That and wiping cat hair off all my paint tubes.

^^ Milky Way prints are now in the shop! I really love the colors. Eeee. You can get them here

^^ Omen is also in the shop. Love this little guy. Comes in 5x5 or 8x8 inches.

^^ She's my little print inspector! Ha. Well back to the studio, hope you all have a lovely week. <3

Lately +

Spring is here and I've been a busy bee. Working on a ton of new little (and big) paintings. Think moths, dark butterflies, galaxies, scarabs, bones, and celestial mermaids. I'm pretty excited.

^^ Priming things. Sorry for the terrible phone quality. Yuck.

^^ She has her own window, but she prefers mine for some reason. I think it's because she likes looking at herself in the mirror. She knows she's gorgeous.

^^ This little guy is dry so I could finally scan him. Prints soon!

^^ Found this black Victorian frame in Houston. Love love love. I need to pick up more.

^^ Found this sweet note in my shop reviews. So lovely. <3

^^ These Elie Saab dresses may or may not have influenced my celestial mermaid paintings I'm currently working on (they did).

Stay tuned for in progress pieces. Oh, I'm also going on a mini trip to OKC in April for family and the arts festival. I love spring. <3

Secret's Out

So some of you know I've been working on a little secret project for the past few months, and I'm happy to say the secret is finally out… (drumroll)... my shop will now carry prints + originals + now, JEWELRY! I loved working with metal jewelry several years ago in college and it has been a goal of mine to get back into it. I literally had pages upon pages of necklace ideas in my sketchbook (and still do) so it was time to get my jewelry saw out and start up again (FYI my hands were incredibly sore the first few days).

My first collection, Zodiac, represents a sleek geometric design of the zodiac constellations. I think we all know how much I love constellations at this point ;). Each necklace is made of raw brass and hung on a delicate antique brass chain. Every piece is uniquely handcut and one of a kind. <3

The Zodiac collection is now available in my shop. I'm doing a few moon jewelry pieces next as well as working on some Victorian house paintings. Back to the studio! <3
